ConvenienceStore
Convenience stores are complex spaces with many uses, including dining, sales, cold storage, and more.
High Volume, High Pressure
- The combination of high customer volume, refrigerated display casings, and, in some situations, light cooking presents a challenging environment for humidity control. Cycling rooftop units cause stagnant air, resulting in poor air distribution and increased chances of condensation. Negative pressure is common, pulling in hot and humid untempered air and causing condensation on cold display doors.
Under Control
- Due to refrigerated display cases, the humidity must be kept under control to avoid condensation, typically at 52-54°F dew point. These cases also remove heat from the space that must be accounted for during the heating season. Modulating components are a necessity to deal with changing space conditions in a high traffic environment. Intermittent exhaust processes like bathroom fans or kitchen hoods should be interlocked to the HVAC system to ensure positive building pressure at all times.
Calculated Comfort
- Paragon HVAC is designed to control humidity with a fully modulating compressor and hot gas reheat. Building pressure is maintained by interlocking exhaust fans with Paragon HVAC and monitored remotely via CASLink. CaptiveAire’s SpecBuilder load calculation software can be utilized to ensure all heating and cooling loads are calculated and offset properly year-round.
