Hotel
Hotels are divided into distinct areas with differing HVAC needs, from guest rooms to fitness centers to natatoriums.
Dynamic Pressures
- Improper building pressure is a big challenge and can lead to odors and contaminants leaking from guest rooms and/or pool rooms into common areas. Inadequate humidity control can lead to poor comfort and mold issues in the space, especially in fitness centers and natatoriums where latent loads are high. Belt-driven systems can lead to maintenance and performance challenges with the continuous HVAC needs and 24/7 operation.
Fresh Air, Healthy Spaces
- Ventilation air should be supplied along the length of each corridor, with local exhaust fans inside the individual rooms to contain odors and contaminants while ventilation air from the corridor naturally replaces the air that is exhausted. The outdoor air should be fully dehumidified to control moisture with modulating hot gas reheat to avoid overcooling the space. Direct drive fans and modulating components allow for precise temperature and humidity control, while ensuring a long equipment lifespan.
Reliable Control
- Paragon HVAC is capable of fully dehumidifying and conditioning 100% outdoor air, providing dry ventilation air for the best humidity control and indoor air quality. A modulating inverter scroll compressor and direct drive components ensures the most efficient operation and reliable performance. CASLink remote monitoring allows for remote changes and reduces unnecessary service visits and ensures the ventilation equipment is functioning properly. Paragon design flexibility allows for the same unit type to serve a variety of applications, leading to standardized maintenance programs.

Application Notes
ASHRAE 62.1 requires the following ventilation or exhaust rates for typical hotel areas:
- Bedroom: 5 CFM/person + 0.06 CFM/ft² ventilation
- Multipurpose assembly: 5 CFM/person + 0.06 CFM/ft² ventilation
- Lobby: 7.5 CFM/person + 0.06 CFM/ft² ventilation
- Health club/weight room: 20 CFM/person + 0.06 CFM/ft² ventilation
- Swimming: 0.48 CFM/ft² ventilation
- Toilets (private): 25 CFM per toilet continuous exhaust, or 50 CFM per toilet intermittent exhaust
